The Definite Form
Learn how the Swedish definite form works and how en and ett nouns form the definite.
What is the definite form?
The definite form is used when we are talking about something specific: something the listener already knows about, or can understand from the context.
In English, this is done with the small word the. In Swedish, it is done by adding an ending to the noun instead.
en bil ⟶ bilen
ett hus ⟶ huset
For en words, the definite ending is usually -en or -n and for ett words, the definite ending is usually -et or -t.
